While waiting for the train last night, I saw this tired Mom sweetly looking at the baby she had strapped to her front. Gently, her other little kid, reached over for her hand and they clasped fingers in a strong bond. The Mom then leaned her head forward and seemed to half rest it on the baby, half kiss its cheek. Then the kid looked over at the other sleeping woman sitting next to him. He continued to watch her until the train came. The whole scene was so beautiful, I just stood there smiling.
One image from the World Trade Center Memorial. I was there in October, 2011 just after the memorial opened to the public. It was a very peaceful place, but you could not be there without a heavy heart, just as I am feeling now, 11 years after that awful day.
